This maybe is the one and only kind of sculptures which use wires as source materials. Clive Maddison can strand by strand create magnificently detailed wire trees only by hand.
First he would manipulate single pieces of wire to make branches, leaves and dense roots. Maddison doesn’t employ glue or anything else to hold the pieces together. This what makes his tree quite self-supportive, sturdy yet have very smooth curves.
Actually his technique is really subtle, that can be seen from the way the wire is weaved flowing from the wooden base to the top of the tree. There doesn’t seem to be any harsh lines created from the weaving.
Despite the fact that his piece of art is the one of its kind, each of his work is inspired by an actual tree.
