When you ride the subway in New York City, you could be reminded of Ben Rubin piece of art. He has a very fresh perspective with imaginative series Subway Doodle. He continues the project featuring photos of passengers on train cars in New York with a whimsical twist of large creature doodles blended into the scenes.
Rubin’s large characters seem to interact nicely with the real-world surroundings in amusing as well as in mischievous ways. For example, the sleepy rider got warmly hugged by a creature and on there is a creature sneak seeping one’s coffee, similarly engrossed in passengers’ phones.
Rubin began to doodle when he was riding a subway train to a destination. He actually started sketching on his iPad during the ride just to pass the time. He took a picture of another passenger with it and drew over the picture.
Once Odyssey had a chance to interview him, he said, “”It was fun so I did another. And another. Then it just kind of continued from there.”
