Exotic Portraits on Canvas by Yuriy Ibragimov

Yuriy Ibragimov is a New York-based painter who was born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan in 1961. He got his Master degree from Tashkent Institute of Fine Art in 1983. He believes that the more an artist knows the surrounding regularity well, the more advanced he or she freely knows their artistic views. As a painter he has been actively involved in many art shows around the globe starting from 2005 until now.

He also says in his artist statement, “I also approach with ambiguity and opposite visions by not refusing realistic structures. By showing emphasized feeling with a bit of gentleness allows me to pronounce the vivid dynamics of life with the intentions of introducing specific reality and multicolor in my work.”

Actually Ibragimov’s images are quite rare in today’s paintings. When glancing at some of the works, some first impressions might showcase a sense of disorder or chaos but when we carefully examine those images, we can soon realize that there is distinct existence being portrayed.

They simultaneously capture both the complexity and the clarity of life. The wrought quality of Ibragimov’s encaustic and oil processes lends itself to a turbid visual experience and, from a distance, his images seem obscured and abstracted.
