As a fashion designer, what attracted you to Disney’s Maleficent: Mistress of Evil?

"I love stories from Maleficent. I love the origin of the Sleeping Beauty story. I think it will be fun to work in an ongoing story. It's been 5 years since the first film, and I can't wait to see what will happen in the future".

How did Maleficent's appearance develop from the last we saw and how does it look in the story?

"The biggest change is in the wings that recover. Her wings make her fly better. How we design, considering that she has wings, everything that Maleficent uses has major changes. Everything is made of lightweight material and easy to fly".

How about working together with Angelina Jolie in making an appearance for Maleficent?

"Angelina is a good collaborator, because she has a good understanding of her character. Angelina also has amazing design tastes, and with that, she provides lots of information and knowledge. It goes back and forth with how she sees things and then cleverly explains it and really invites us to work together to create the next round of Maleficent".

Now, let's talk about Maleficent's charming black dress during the battle scene. How did it happen?

"We learned that she came from the forest and the winged tribes, horned fairies. The characters are made for black fairies who are influenced by tribes initially from various regions, where the equipment for battle is themselves. They do not wear armor, instead of drawing their bodies. That was the inspiration for the battle appearance for Maleficent, and we hope to create the best design to tell us where she came from".

Let's talk about Aurora's appearance.

"Now, Aurora is the Queen of the Moors. It is important for us to create a slightly fantasy appearance, which will be made by fairies. We make amazing dresses with small leaf and flower embroidery, all made with "Aurora blue" yarn. Then Aurora wore a pink dress for dinner with Prince Phillip's parents, and it was inspired by the original Sleeping Beauty story. The neck cut is the same and the pink represents the Aurora gown in the animation, and wrapped in tulle and flowers that fall, then we overwrite it again with applique again".

"Then we chose to be more classic and structured when Aurora was with Queen of Ingrith in the palace. Design is no longer too strange, but more serious, more woven with different silhouettes and more golden touches. Looks like as if woven by a reliable weaver in the kingdom. Finally, we gave her a wedding dress. There are six different colors and thin silk layers, and decorated with handmade flowers throughout the tail of the dress and the top of the dress".

How about Ingrith Queen?

"Well, everything about Ingrith Queen is money, power and greed. [Laughs] Every piece of clothing worn is woven and gold woven. She is a bead of diamonds, pearls, rubies, and all things luxurious. Her appearance was designed to show her life full of wealth, but it does not necessarily indicate that she is a bad person. For example, when we meet her, Queen of Ingrith will wear a dress with a light cloth but with a very beautiful necklace with stones and pearls. Creative direction for her that she is a good woman like the Queen you imagined. You can't judge a book by its cover". [Laughs]

"So this is the most difficult. If you have to choose the favorite appearance from the film, who will be chosen?

Why do you ask like that! [Laughs] If I have to choose, my favorite is the appearance of Ingrith Queen and Maleficent during the battle, also the appearance of Aurora during the wedding".

Oh, we saw Queen of Ingrith's appearance during the battle and it looks very unusual.

"Very luxurious. Really very luxurious. I think that is the essence of Ingrith Queen. You are not sure what it is made of and how it is made. That was 100% that she had to wear when fighting. If you look, and you see how Maleficent is at war, you can see who they really are".

"This is a very big difference. The difference is very far and clearly shows who they really are and who is what we imagine from the Maleficent story: Mistress of Evil. This is a symbol of the relationship between two perfect characters".

Finally, why do people have to watch Disney’s Maleficent: Mistress of Evil?

"Because you will enjoy the best roller coaster in your life"!
