As a sculptor and also an illusionist, Christopher David White can deceive your eyes into believing that his ceramics are wood. Just check them out and you will be astonished as to find out that they are not what they seem they are.
The amazing woodwork is actually just a piece of ceramic. Just have a closer look at the textures.
White was born in Bedford, Indiana. And now the artist lives in Virginia. He can create his predominantly clay sculptures by hand. Look at his work series of decay running, he could create various pieces that truly resemble objects in the process of decomposition, rusty metals and other deteriorating pieces of wood which he meant to showcase the connection between human and nature.
As he wrote in his artist statement he said, “Change is a constant reminder that permanence is the ultimate illusion. It is through the creation of hyper-realistic sculpture that I explore the relationship between nature, man, and the phenomenon of impermanence.”
