Fiona Tang is a Vancouver-based art student who creates those life-sized animals drawings popping right off the paper. Those masterful drawings seem to be standing out like a regal deer looking straight at the viewers or an immense crocodile poking its snout out the wall and those menacing shark seemingly to battle a tough-looking whale emerging from the wall.
Viewers may find the drawings as a 3D art work but each piece is merely a complete flat 2D drawing. Tang is really utilizing his advanced skill to produce such creative piece. In order to come with those 3D-looking piece, he is simply using a variety of media like conte, chalk pastel, charcoal and acrylic paint.
By employing a technique called trompe l’oeil, Tang can really pulls off her convincing illusions. That way she can easily make 2D objects appear 3D. For sure she uses realistic imagery to do just that.
That particular technique which she usually combines with her expressive gestural drawing method can make her art work look impressive, eye-popping and surely seem to have a life of their own.
