Marc Quinn – Sculpture of Human Body

Marc Quinn graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in History and History of Art and subsequently worked as an assistant to the sculptor Barry Flanagan.

He is one of the leading artists of his generation, with his sculptures, paintings and drawings exploring the relationship between art and science, the human body and the perception of beauty, among other things. On of his outstanding artwork was an inflatable reinterpretation of the iconic sculpture ‘Alison Lapper Pregnant’, titled ‘Breath’ took center stage at the London 2012 Paralympic Games’ opening ceremony. It is a portrait of disabled artist Alison Lapper when she was eight months pregnant.
