Reimagining Classic Disney Characters as Tim Burton's Illustration of Style

"His artworks are often marketed as a 'horror' film, but at the same time, it's not horror ... It can be any genre."

Andrew Tarusov (1986), is a Russian-born artist and animator. He lives in Los Angeles, California. He has always had a strong passion for pin-ups, comics and animations. After studying at VGIK he worked for 10 years in the field of illustration and animation for a lot of companies.

Every illustration of Burtonesque's touch, Tarusov transformed a delightful fairy tale character into a haunting version like a cartoon version, like a corpse from their previous selves. Snow White is described as an evil witch, with spider friends instead of downy forest animals; The Little Mermaid looks blank staring from the pitch-black lagoon; and Sleeping Beauty faces the reality that is not so "happy forever". The bright and cheerful Disney hue is now displayed in a dark, gloomy, silent, color palette, and settings that were previously enchanted are seen as scary and hazy night scenes.

We have seen iconic Disney figures reorganized in countless creative ways, from real-life daughters to empowered career women. However, Russian artist and animator Andrew Tarusov takes a slightly more unpleasant approach by visualizing the answer to a simple question: "What if Tim Burton directs all Disney classic films?"

He does not mean to frighten you with his illustrations. He just devotes Burton's iconic animation style. He explained, "I like how the Burton style looks vintage, chic, and cute at the same time ... His work is often marketed as a 'horror' film, but at the same time, it's not horror ... It can be any genre. "The artist revealed," My main goal is to make the audience smile, laugh, and have fun when they find my work. This is meant to be strange and fun, so watch and enjoy! "
